Product Description and Uses:

Schwartz Premium Polyurethane Finish is an oil-modified polyurethane designed for the professional hardwood floor refinisher.

Ideal for interior residential and commercial wood floors.

Ideal for high traffic areas.

Suggested Uses:

For use on interior commercial and residential hardwood floors

Mixing Instructions:

Presence of soft settling may be visible following prolonged storage, simply stir-in until product is homogenous and use.

Avoid excessive stirring or shaking as this can cause bubbles to form.

Do not shake in paint shaker.

Recommended System:

Apply 2 coats at 4 mils wet film thickness over sealed wood.

In high traffic areas apply three finish coats.

Application Tools:

Apply Floor Finish using, T-bar, wood block mop or roller with synthetic pad, lambswool or synthetic bristle Brush.

Coverage:

400 sq ft/gal or 37 sq m/3.78 L (4 mils wet film)

Dry Time:

Tack free in 3 - 4 hours (25C, 60% RH).

Full cure in 7 - 14 days.
CAUTION: Cold temperature, high humidity, or lack of airflow will prolong dry times.

Recoat time:

1 hour (25C, 60% RH)

Clean-up Solvent:

Mineral Spirits.

Reducer:

Do not thin.

Pot Life:

NA

Surface Preparation:

Surface to be coated must be clean, dry and contaminant-free. Follow NOFMA Guidelines for sanding.

Old floors:

  1. Use medium grit (50, 60, 80) sandpaper to remove old finish or wax, and to level the floor.
  2. Depending on the build-up of old finish start with a coarse grit (36, 40 ) sandpaper then move to a medium grit.
  3. Finish-off with fine grit (80, 100, 120, 150) sandpaper for final cut.

New floors:

  1. Use medium grit to level floor and finish-off with fine grit sandpaper.
  2. Vacuum and tack with lint-free towel dampened with water or mineral spirits.

Application:

  1. Use 1C259 or 1C360 Floor sealer to seal surface.
  2. Let dry for 1 hour. Buff with used 120 grit screen.
  3. Vacuum and tack with lint-free towel dampened with water or mineral spirits and let dry.
  4. Apply first coat of finish with recommended applicator.
  5. Always work with the grain, and start and stop where floor and wall intersect.
  6. Never stop in the middle of a floor.
  7. Do not retouch missed areas if finish has begun to skim over, the next coat will fill these areas.
  8. Allow for a minimum 8 hours dry time.
  9. Buff with used120 grit screen or maroon pad.
  10. Vacuum all dust and tack with lint-free towel dampened with water or mineral spirits.
  11. Let dry completely before applying second coat.
  12. For heavy traffic areas apply a third coat.
  13. Always buff, vacuum and tack between coats.

Stained Floors:

  1. Apply stain following manufacturer's recommendations.
  2. Allow stain to dry for 24 hours under recommended conditions.
  3. Make sure stain is thoroughly dry prior to applying the finish.
  4. Allow final finish coat to dry for 24 hours before use and avoid heavy traffic for 72 hours.
  5. Do not replace any floor covering such as rugs and mats until finish has been fully cured for 14 days.
  6. Avoid cleaning the floor with water for 2 weeks, use dry cloth only.

Storage:

Store indoor at room temperature, away from heat, ignition sources, open flames and direct sunlight.

Warning:

  1. Avoid sparking, use non-sparking tools.
  2. Avoid open flames, turn off all pilot lights, ensure that work area is properly ventilated.
  3. Soiled rags and waste products may contain combustible liquids or vapours and SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST, dispose in accordance with local regulations.
  4. Semi-Gloss and Satin Schwartz Premium Polyurethane wood floor finishes are not recommended for gymnasiums due to lower coefficient of friction.
  5. Schwartz Recommends the use of the Premium Polyurethane Gloss Finish for these applications.
